The Beginning

June 7, 2006 from Lansing, Michigan

The Hometown Invasion Tour was once a dream, long before it had a title or website. However, the vision has been there from day one. It's been about 10 months since I first started dreaming about this big idea to travel to all 50 states and stay with a different family in each. The more I thought about it and the more I worked on it the more necessary it became.

The website has been online for close to a month now. I'm sure it's still in it's beta version as many ideas are still unfolding. With that note, here it is, the first blog entry of the site.

What I'm most impressed with at this point in the project is how well and how much the news media has relayed the story. From the initial idea I had the vision of news headlines reading, "Recent MSU grad to travel all 50 states." Essentially, that's what they have been saying. At the early stage of the project I couldn't have imagined the project making the AP news wire. The story stretched all the way to California.

I'm already realizing what a single person can make happen when utilizing resources and really knowing how to approach a project professionally. People have embraced the project across the country already. So far we're dealing with small numbers, but those are about to grow larger.

These early stages are revealing how big of potential the tour has. -xo
